So the last time i wrote something i was really shitty. I've been in Allgäu since thursday night. Babsi and i spent all of tuesday and wednesday sight seeing in munich with her boyfriend jacob. We went to Marien Platz, Old Peter and shopping around Munich. I was absolutely wrecked but i'm glad Babsi dragged my lazy ass out of the house otherwise i would have just sat around feeling sorry for myself. It makes me think that that reason why i sleep so much is actually my fault and not the glandular fever i had in year 11 :) I think what also helped me was that i had beer with breakfast, not much, but they gave me a 500ml glass i think i drank about 200mls which is a good effort for me. I barely drink beer at home but it really helped me stop aching all over. Babsi attempted to get me on a bike.... the bike seats all went up to my belly button and also i haven't been on a bike in about 10 years. It didn't go too well and we walked to the train instead. I think Babsi was also scared i would get run over which would have been quite likely cos i'm still not used to being on the other side of the road hahahah. I'm pretty sure Babsi's friend thought i was a freak!
Munich is very beautiful the city is awesome. They're are of course beer gardens on every corner unlike Melbourne where there are 7 elevens on every corner. I know which one i prefer. Old Peter is this tower across from Marien Platz and you have to climb up these narrow stairs... it hurt and babsi was so far ahead of me. There is a horrible picture of me at the top of the tower which babsi finds so amusing cos it looks like i want to die, it is her screen saver. That being said the views are beatiful. You can see so far because Munich's buildings aren't very tall there aren't any sky scrapers. We went to Babsi's friend's work, she works in a dirndl shop... those traditional german dresses... and we got free champagne. So on top of the beer for breakfast we had champagne before we had lunch... another way to survive jet lag is drink during the day, replace meals with alcohol... it rocks. The buildings a bit beautifulerl when you are a little pissed ahahhaha.
I know mum that you would not be proud but there is this thing that you buy from a tobacco shop its like powdered tobacco and its smells sort of like eucalyptus. You sniff it up your nose... mum i know at the moment you are crying im sorry. Me and babsi tried it. It was hilarious. I sniffed it up my blocked nose so i think it just got caught it my snot. Its pretty well known here to do this which i find strange. Babsi got a massive headache when she did it. We were standing outside this tobacco shop pissing ourselves laughing. Babsi had this brown mark under her nose and i laughed so much i cried and then i laughed everytime i blew my nose and all brown shit came out. I was just thinking how proud mum would be at this moment but mark said i can do anything i want as long as i don't smoke so i figured this is allowed.
Me and Babsi went home and had dinner with Hans and Marta, Marta made this baked zucchini thing with crushed tomatoes and feta cheese, it was so yum. Babsi was being mean to her mother during dinner by talking in english so she couldn't understand and then telling her off when she laughed cos she didn't know what she was laughing at. Mean but slighty funny. I like it that babsi's mum cant speak english because it forces me to speak german to her. Hans can speak english really well and he laughs at babsi when she swears in english. It was a funny dinner. Babsi always says random disgusting crap and the highlight of this day was when she said to hans "thankyou for wiping my ass" Its so good to be around babsi and her filth talk again. After dinner we went to get ice cream i think i was a bit tired cos we had a lot of fun. Babsi made her dad pay she was like "I love you daddy" and then he paid for us. Me and Babsi were yelling ICE CREAM FOR EVERYONE, FREE ICE CREAM! My dad is paying! Everybody have more ice cream!
On wednesday we went sightseeing again. We went to the Olympic Tower and Babsi's uni which is in all the buildings that were built for the olympics in Munich. We also went to the site of the Octoberfest. They are starting to build all the "tents", they are massive buildings and i was under the impression that they were going to be flimsy buildings but they are better than our house hahahahaha... I saw this statue that is near the octoberfest she watches over the land and all the drunken people during octoberfest. We met up with Babsi's friend Alicia because she is going to Canada we had lunch with her. We also went back to the Dirndl shop and had 2 more champagnes. We met up with another friend of Babsi's and had 1/2 price coctails i had a Flying Kangaroo hahaha. Awesome afternoon. It's so awesome not to have a car. Later that night we went to Maxi's house and drank more. Babsi rode her bike and i sat on the seat. It was so much fun i just sat back and relaxed and babsi did all the work. We looked like lebians. We went for a swim in Maxi's pool. We got a bit drunk cos the vodka here is 5 EUROS! I have this funny feeling i will be drunk all the time. When i found out that the vodka was 5 euros i was so shocked i said to babsi "Why aren't we drunk all the time?" We had heaps of fun at Maxi's, he can speak english really well and we were just being silly the whole time. We got home at about 3am we attempted to ride the bike together on the way home but it was too hard for babsi so we walked.
On Thursday we went to the library and got some books for Allgäu, it is the country and there is not a lot to do. It is like going to Daylesford. So me and babsi just chilled out and read in the garden until we left for Allgäu. On the way we hans and marta picked up some hitch hikers on their way to spain. It was funny. Hitch hiking is common here, they were hitch hiking cos they bought a car for 600 euros and then it broke down somewhere near munich. The car sounded like a piece of shit, the brake lights didn't work, the speedo or petrol gauge didn't work, the petrol tank leaked and it all of a sudden broke down in the middle of the road. They were idiots. Babsi's family are nice and her grandmother is very cute. They have the most amazing cheese here and you cant buy it anywhere else, they don't stock it in supermarkets. Babsi rekons her mum bought a wheel of cheese bigger than a steering wheel and took it back to munich for friends. Babsi's grandmother has a vegetable garden with cucumbers, tomatoes, potatoes and zuchinis so we have been eating fresh fruit and veggies. She also has chickens so this morning i had an egg for breakfast, they are so nice and yellow.
On friday we went to Bodensee it is beautiful there. Some of the lake is in Germany, some in Austria and some in Switzerland. The water was so nice, i slipped on the last step because it was slimy and i also slipped on a rock. Some german guy saw me and laughed and then went and told his friends cos babsi overheard ahahahaha. Me and Babsi sat around near the lake in the sun and read our books. It was very relaxing. Babsi's parents left the first morning we were here to go to Switzerland to the Alps so we got to use the car to drive to Bodensee. Babsi is a funny driver and it is so much fun going in their Volkswagen bus. It took us ages to get a park and me and babsi were like FARRRRRRRRK.
On saturday i met babsi's other grandmother and she is very cute, ya know doing the usual grandmother stuff and making you eat food. Its awesome having people feed you. We also went for a walk in the forest near babsi's grandmothers house some of the forest belongs to babsi's uncle, or used to babsi isnt sure. In the afternoon we read in the garden, i fell asleep of course, with my mouth open and babsi was laughing at me. I wish she took a photo. For lunch we had zucchini soup which was awesome and then these pancake things with apple sauce.
I feel really at home in germany especially because i can speak a little so i usually understand what people are saying to me. I can speak a little to Babsi's grandmother and her mother but most people know basic english anyway. Things here are as different as i though they would be there are so many brands here that we have. It is so easy to find something familiar. The supermarkets look like Aldi they are sort of set out the same. What freaks me out is the fact that they just have cigarettes sitting on the shelf of supermarkets. Could you imagine that in Australia? They would all be gone in about 5 minutes. They only cost about 4 euro here, which is about double so that is so cheap concidering they are going to put them up to $20 is australia. They are allowed to advertise tobacco products here as well, not on TV or in the cinema but on the street there are ads, which i find strange. The alcohol is so cheap Babsi bought wine for 1.5 Euro i think we are going to stock up before we go to France. I think everything here tastes different as well, i'm only just getting used to the water because it doesn't taste like chlorine. The juices taste more acidic and more like real fruit, in australia i think they taste more like sugar. The bread is nice but more commonly they eat bread that is like rye bread. It is not as light as our bread and it seems to last longer as well cos it isnt soft to begin with. Pretzels are mad... i cant get enough and they have bread rolls that are the same as pretzels they are fab. I have eaten so much bread lately cos it is so good.
On saturday babsi wanted to say to me "Can you turn the light off?" and she said something that i didn't understand and she was laughing at me, so i said sorry i don't speak retard, ahahahaha, me so funny. She tried to make me tell her auntie the story but my german isn't good and there was a good chance i could offend her, hahaha i would have said it in english because i could try to say it in a nice way.
Today we are just washing some clothes because we leave for France in the morning. We are staying in a hostel for 3 days and then we move down to Lyon and then to Nice where we meet Jacob and another friend. We are travelling by car around France for about 2 weeks. We are going to have party time at the beach, hopefully the weather will be nice so we can camp a bit as well and save money. I am also the palest person in europe which will change soon, i hope. The boys are taking the car and a tent and all the camping shit we need. I just want to relax at the beach and drink :)
Babsi and i were walking around this town and she was singing in the tune of Hey Jude but saying Hey Steph, You are so slutty ect. and as we were waking past a cafe she was singing so loud REMEMBER! and everyone in the cafe was looking at us like what idiots. I couldn't stop laughing. She is so hilarious. She made me have some shot at like 3pm. So that takes the drinking during the day count up to 3 times in one week. Best holiday ever :) I will be in France for about 3 weeks so i won't be able to write that much, hopefully i can go to some internet cafes and write about all the drinking times.
I miss you australia
